I R Highland Park, New Jersey
1984
For this paperback
republication I have made a
number of changes. I have
added discussions of new
findings and some theoretical
developments, particularly on
the role of attention, priming,
and evidence of non-conscious
"perception." I have also
corrected a few errors and
condensed the discussion of
the "New Look" in perception
since newer work has made
that research largely obsolete.
One additional person I
especially want to thank is
Stephen Palmer, my colleague
at the University of California
at Berkeley. He has taught me
much about new approaches to
perception and has commented
insightfully on virtually every
article, and now this book, that
I have written or revised since
I came here eight years ago.
I R Berkeley, California 1995
